The Recovery Room Studio
The Recovery Room
The Recovery Room is a Seattle-based mixing and mastering studio founded by Graig Markel. It is built for artists who want their recordings to sound finished, cohesive, and ready for release.
I originally created the studio as a place to escape and recover from daily life. A space where creativity could feel focused and unpressured.
Over time, it has grown into a studio where I work with independent artists across a wide range of genres and help them bring recordings across the finish line.
Today, my focus is simple. Helping you finish your record.

What I Do
Second Set of Ears (Mix Feedback)
If you are working on a track at home or in another studio and feel stuck, you can send it to me.
I will listen closely and give detailed, practical feedback on:
- balance and tone
- arrangement and structure
- clarity and translation
- what is working and what is getting in the way
This is designed for artists who are close but not quite finished yet.
Mixing
I take your recorded tracks and shape them into a cohesive, polished mix that translates across systems and feels true to your sound.
My goal is not to change your music. My goal is to help it land the way it should.
Mastering
Final preparation for streaming, vinyl, or digital release.
I focus on clarity, consistency, and making sure your music holds up everywhere it is heard.
Recording Sessions
I offer recording sessions in a focused, comfortable studio environment in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood.
Sessions are engineered by me with an emphasis on performance, tone, and capturing what makes the song feel alive.
The Studio
The Recovery Room is located in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle with easy parking and simple load in.
The studio is within walking distance of Chuck's Hop Shop, Preserve and Gather, and Alebrijes Kitchen, and a short drive from Puget Sound.
Inside there is a small live room with wood covered walls and a comfortable control room designed for focused hands on work.
The setup blends digital recording tools with analog gear chosen for character, flexibility, and sound shaping possibilities.
Experience
I have worked on a wide range of independent music projects over the years including full length records, singles, vinyl releases, and audio work for film and television.
My focus has always been the same. Helping artists turn recordings into finished records that feel intentional and complete.

Equipment
I work with a hybrid setup of digital and analog tools including Pro Tools based recording, analog tape options, vintage compressors, spring reverbs, and a curated collection of microphones, synths, guitars, and effects.
A full gear list is available upon request or during sessions.
